Oore Of Mobaland: Only Person Who's Qualified To Break The News Of Ooni's Death

No No Yoruba has a rich tradition. The age-long culture gives form, content and predictability to the beliefs of its people.

The custom has been inherited from generation to generation. The symbol of the unity of the race is kingship. Its cradle is Ile-Ife, the cherished sacred abode of its progenitor, Oduduwa.

Whenever any Owooni (Ooni) Adimula joins his ancestors, the news is not broken without following the due process of culture. Ooni is the property of Yoruba race. He is the custodian of the household of Oduduwa, its shrine and the protector of its legacies.

Therefore, it is absolutely a taboo for any prince, royal family and palace chiefs to break the news without clearance or approval from the appropriate traditional quarters. (Not to mention journalists, bloggers or just anyone on the internet who had privileged of knowing about such occurrence.)

The announcement of the Ooni’s death is a traditional role conferred on Oore, the Oore of Otun and Mobaland, an helper of Oduduwa and one of the 16 foremost monarchs in Yorubaland. The reigning Oore is Oba Adedapo Popoola.

The Oore of Mobaland, Oba (Dr.) James Adedapo Popoola JP, CON, Odundun I Adimula, is a first class traditional ruler and former Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Council of Obas and Chiefs. He is an economist and chartered accountant.

After ascertaining that the Ooni has waja (died), the palace chiefs are expected to inform the Oore.

The Oore will mourn his passage in a traditional way. He will not waste time in breaking the news to other Oduduwa children, especially the Alaafin, the descendant of Oranmiyan Akinorun, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, the Oba of Benin, the Onipopo of Popo, the Onisabe of Sabe, and the Owa Obokun Adimula. The Oore will also carry along the Ajero Asotemaru, the Alara and the Obalufon Alayemore.

The foremost rulers will break the news to their towns and vassal towns. Days of mourning will be declared. The attention of the towns and villages will focus on Ile-Ife, the Orirun, where their kings obtained their legitimate crowns.

In ancient times, a celebration will be proclaimed, with its characteristic visitation to the cradle by monarchs, accompanied by their chiefs and families. The palace chiefs will play dominant roles during the burial ceremony. They will also play dominant roles during the selection of a new prince for the prestigious throne.

After the new Ooni is crowned, Yoruba monarchs will accord him automatic recognition and respect. He may visit selected palaces of his brother obas in the spirit of brotherhood. As a prince, he must know the history of the race by heart. He is expected to be factual.
***

Aren't Yoruba's rich in culture?
So, Yorubas, relax, Ooni is 'alive' until Oore says otherwise.

DESPERATE FOR HUSBAND? Read this.

For many years I never knew how ladies in their very late 20s,early 30s and late 30s feel when it comes to the issue of settling down with a man until recently when i had the cause to really get close to many of them.

Yes many of them will always insist that marriage is the least of their worries but deep inside, most of them are hoping desperately to have a man to settle down with and my acquaintanceship with some of them made me decide to write this short piece hoping that when they see and read it,they will come to understand that their desperation is self inflicted and until they learn to put themselves at a vantage point, they will only hope and wish for a long time that a man comes their way.

I have witnessed many deliverance session for ladies all in the name of looking for a husband but after a close look i come to realize that they are their own problems and this is as a result of the society that have brainwashed them and rather than dealing with the problems, they end up running from from one prophet to another and from one deliverance service to another and some have become a shadow of themselves as they turn to emergency sister dressing like masquerades, going without earrings, make up and even on low cut all in the name of looking for a man.

Please when next you see such ladies, help me inform them that only deliverance won't solve their problems and even when we know that there are spiritual hindrance to getting a spouse, most times what we need is a re-orientation of our minds, ways of life and culture. Below are some points to take note:

1.Many ladies will not say yes to a man if you are not ready to do traditional wedding, legal wedding, white wedding, blue wedding... Please tell me how easy you expect to find a man in this harsh economy.

2.As an Igbo lady, you are naturally at risk unless you drive it into your man's ear that in your own family they don't ask a man for crazy bride price otherwise you will only see men come into your life without discussing marriage and you will think its a curse from the village but its only as a result of the funny belief that Igbo ladies are expensive to marry.

3.How many ladies can start a life with a struggling man? I guess part of the prayer point during deliverance is that GOD should bring a ready made man to propose to you.Mumu

4.Funny doctrinal belief is another hindrance and many ladies who run to conservative churches in the bid to have a man end up in more bondage.I had a lady friend in her 30s who i admire so much but she goes to one of this conservative churches and there was a time i was so sick and i was expecting her to visit but she never did and when i told her i was angry, she was so quick to say she can not visit me at home and i was like FOR REAL? Even a sick guy? i even told her that she would have at least come in company of a friend and i lost interest in the friendship instantly and i wonder how she will get a good man with that mindset.

5.Rough past is another hindrance and many ladies just believe that if a man loves them the past does not matter.

6.Lack of wife qualities is another issue and i wonder how a lady who does not have the required quality to be a mrs to a man will be desperate fore a man because even if any man comes,he will eventually leave you until you work on yourself.

The bottom line is that many ladies we see in churches today who tend to be looking for a husband are their own problems. So stop been desperate and work on your mindset and you will be surprised that in no time,a good man will walk into your life and marry you.

A PRAYER FOR GOD'S GRACE.

Lord, I know you are merciful. I've been taught that you provide grace and mercy in spite of my behavior and in spite of my sins. You are a good God that comes to those that need You, no matter what. And Lord, I need you now in my life more than ever. I know that I'm not perfect. I know that my sins are not hidden from you. I know that, at times, I sin knowing it's a sin. I'm human, Lord,
and while that's no excuse, I know you love me despite my human nature. Lord, I need you today to provide for me. I need your grace in my life to provide strength, because I am weak. I face temptations every day, and I wish I could say that
I always walk away. I cannot do it alone any more. I just can't. I need you to give me the strength and provide me with the guidance to overcome these desires to sin. I need you to give me direction in darker times when I wonder if I can even face the next day. You can move the
mountains that block my way in life. You can give to me what I need in my life. Please, Lord, I ask of you to come into my life and offer your grace. I am open to it and ready to accept it. Allow my heart to always be focused on You and make my desire to live for You. Lord, I know from the scripture that your grace is bestowed no matter what, so I just ask for it today. I may not always
be perfect, but I strive to be better. Lord, help me be better. Help me see the clear, narrow path in front of me so I can walk in your ways and in your glory. In your name I pray.

SCHOOL FEES OF SOME PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA

Thankfully Jamb has decided to drop it's new controversial method of posting students to schools. It's good that the saga has been resolved because it would have been difficult for some Nigerian parents and guardians if their kids were posted to private schools. Some private schools are very good and to be desired if not for their astronomical fees.

OONI OF IFE, OKUNADE SIJUADE IS DEAD

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has died at the age of 85 in a London hospital.

The monarch was said to have died around 5pm on Tuesday (today).

Relevant officials, who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday night, however, refused to confirm the monarch’s death, saying they did not want to be quoted on the death of the foremost traditional ruler, who was said to have passed away on Tuesday.

“I have heard but please, I don’t want to be quoted on this. People have been calling but nothing has been made public. You see, another person is calling me from London,” the source said before picking the other call.

Another source, who spoke on condition of anonymity to our correspondent, explained that Oba Sijuwade was flown out of the country from Ibadan about five days ago in an unconscious state.

“Kabiyesi was flown out of the country about five days ago in an air ambulance. He was unconscious; his situation was critical.

“As a matter of fact, some people have been weeping in the palace since the weekend because of his situation when he was flown out from Ibadan in that air ambulance,” he said.

Oba Sijuwade became the fiftieth traditional ruler or Ife in 1980.

Just last week, the Ooni resolved the industrial dispute between the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University and some staff of the institution, who had embarked on an indefinite strike.

Details later…

7 WEIRD THINGS WE DO IN CHURCH

1) The act of 'sleeping without closing your eyes' ; I learnt this act many years ago, especially in churches where the ushers are very stubborn and keep tapping you every time you shut your eyes. This act can only be done by Pros. It requires you making your eyes being wide open, but your body in deep sleep. The only problem here is that pray you don't get called upon by the pastor to answer a question, a friend of mine whose name is emmanuel was practicing the act one vigil night when our pastor (who was about starting another round of prayer) shouted 'God of Emmanuel!', my friend Jolted back to reality on hearing 'emmanuel', stood up and said (in a very loud tone) 'sir, I am listening'. I couldn't help the laughter that day and the look on his face was worse than Mr Ibu's.

2) The Church 'Madmathecian'; if you get extremely bored in church, you tend to; firstly, look around you to check if any familiar face is around you, then, ultimately, you turn into a 'madmathecian' by counting things in the church nobody asked you to count. You start counting the number of fans, how many chairs are in church, the number of choir members, etc. When it gets extremely worse is when you start calculating how much the church receive in terms of Member's tithe. Or how much different members might drop as tithe. By this time, you are no longer in the church, neither would you ever understand what the pastor is saying even if he keeps repeating himself. Smh for you.

3) The 'Lookozade'; this act is the most common by church goers, it requires you to look as if you are paying apt attention to what the preacher is saying, while your mind can wander of... Very often than not, your mind can wander of to something quite sinful (sex, alcohol, etc) only for you to remind yourself of being in the house of God, trying to be attentive to what the preacher is saying once again, and go back to the beginning by 'lookozading' some more! You for no kuku come church sef.

(4) African time;[/b] this occurs when a church extends it closing time in a service, I like to call it 'overtime'. For instance, a church is billed to close by 1 pm, just some few minutes after the 'supposedly' closing time you hear announcement of something like 'we will now go into our thanksgiving sunday program', some people fit faint sef. It happened once to a friend of mine whom I dragged to church and assured him we would close by 12, after 12 like this he was staring at me with a killer's eyes, by 1 the pastor announced that the kids were to present something to the church (as per children's day), this my guy eyes done red finish, he was headed outside when I rushed to him to plead he stayed for the grace. The worse part was immediately after service, na beer parlor my guy rush go straight. Smh for some people.

5) 'deceitful humming'; this is done during praise worship. Every body else seems to know the song very well except you!, you no fit carry last na! Hum away my friend, just pray they change the song to the ones you know soonest!

6) Being 'alone' in the church; this happened to me once, when we were told to stand up and pray, me I dey hammer the prayer sotay, I did not hear when the pastor told everyone to sit down, after a while, as I no hear pastor again, I just open one eye discover say the whole world done siddon and na only me dey pray! This salary matter sha! You might end up being alone in the church if you don't open your eyes and look around you. Professional church goers always shine their eyes even when you are told not to

(7)Lusting after a beautiful member; if there is a beautiful church member that is your taste right beside you, then satan done catch you for that day! You end up being self conscious all through, your thoughts leave the church and goes into your bedroom with the girl/guy, you first start to steal glances, from there your mind advances to strike a conversation or meeting, somehow for you as satan dey dance shoki for your life.

If you do any of this then Somehow for you!

Please add yours, I done try na!

HELP! UNDERGRADUATE WANT TO COMMIT SUICIDE.

I will kill myself on Wednesday if am not able to sort this out. I'm tired of this life even though people around believe all is well with me.

I am a 23 year old undergraduate of University of Ilorin. I am a spill over student due for graduation last year. I had 2 courses for first semester and 5 courses for second semester, including project. I really tried my best this year, so that I can graduate. The trauma, depression, studying with my juniors, O God, after stressing myself reading day and night, preparing hard and settling project issues, just to discover that I failed 2 courses in second semester. I will now splash, not again.

I am pressing some buttons IF the courses can be waved. I discovered that I failed the two on friday after checking my results at the level adviser's office.

How will I inform my parents? I don't have a choice than to just end this if nothing can be done before Wednesday evening.

The pressure is just too much. I am the first born of my parent. They are expecting the good news not the splash news again, not after supporting me for a year.

Please comment your candid advise.

PRAYER POINTS TO BREAK THE YOKE OF CURSES.

I have heard of several people, whose family curses were passed down their lineage. Believe it or not, ancestral and generational curses exists. Many people have tried all they could to become relevant, to be good and successful, some would even go to the extent of killing themselves; thinking thats the only solution to their problems.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds  casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God; and bringing into captivity every though to the obedience of Christ;

You cannot do it all alone, not by the works of your hand, not by your self righteousness. Not by visiting priests, prophets and pastors by laying on of hands, it is not by going to river to bath away your curses. No! It is through God. Through God in prayers.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:11

You need to understand that, your problems are not carnal, and since it is not carnal you cannot fight against it using carnal means.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all stand Ephesians 6:12

As believers our amour is Prayer and the word of God (herein the breastplate of righteousness). Prayer is one of the ways we release the will of God upon the earth. The will of God, for you to prosper, to have promotion, to be successful, to be financially liberated, sound health and so on. This is why prayer and the Word must be combines. Daniel was able to pray effectively because he knew the Word of God concerning his people. It is essential that you know that God does not predestined people to suffer curses, to live in poverty, to be tormented by servient spirit of sickness. Heresy!

It is also important that we pray with understanding (1 Cor 14:15). Understanding the will of God will help you pray correctly. The word of God is the will of God; which says that you will prosper, blessing the works of your hands, bless the cattle of your field, the fruit of your ground and that wherever the sole of your feet shall thread He will give unto you. Why then are you still not liberated? Why then do you still live in poverty? Why then do you work and work and still not have ends meet? Why then are you sickly always? Why then are you always met with disappointments? Curses!

Curses? What then is the way out?
PRAYER

You need to know how to pray and pray through. There is a big difference between praying and praying through. I am not going to dwell so much on this, but if truly you want to be liberated from generational curses, you need to know the right prayers to pray.
Pray the following prayer points with faith and all fervency.

- I bind all Principalities, all Powers, all Rulers of the darkness of this world, all spiritual wickedness in high places that may hinder my prayers in Jesus name.

- I release all idle angels in heavenly planes above the earth that are meant to convey my prayers unto God in Jesus name.

-I break free from every curse of the law for the word of the Lord says I am redeemed from the curse of the law (Gal 3:13)

- I break all generational curses of pride, lust, perversion, rebellion, witchcraft, idolatry, poverty, rejection, fear, confusion, addiction, death, and destruction in the name of Jesus.

- I command all ancestral and generational spirits that came into my life during conception, in the womb, in the birth canal, and through the unblical cord to come out in the name of Jesus.

- I break all spoken curses and negative words that I have spoken over my life in the name of Jesus.

- I break all spoken curses and negative words spoken over my life by others, including those in authority, in the name of Jesus.

- I command all ancestral spirits of freemansonry, idolatry, masquerades, witchcraft, false religion, polygamy, lust and perversion to come out of my life in the name of Jesus.

- I command all hereditary spirits of lust, rejection, fear, sickness, infirmity, disease, anger, hatred, confusion, failure, and poverty to come out of my life in the name of Jesus.

- I break the legal rights of all generational spirits operating behind a curse in the name of Jesus. You have no legal right to operate in my life.

- I bind and rebuke all familiar spirits and spirit guides that would try to operate in my life from ancestors in the name of Jesus.

- I renounce all false beliefs and philosophies inherited by my ancestors in the name of Jesus.

- I break all curses on my finances from any ancestors that cheated or mishandled money in the name of Jesus.

- I break all curses of sickness and disease and command all inherited sicknesses to leave my body in the name of Jesus.

- Through Jesus, my family is blessed (Gen12:3)
I renounce all pride from my ancestors in the name of Jesus.

- I break all curses by agents of satan spoken against my life in the name Jesus (Psalm 10:7).

- I break all written curses that would affect my life in the name of Jesus (2Chron 34:24).

- I break every time-released curse that would activate in my life as I grow older in the name of Jesus.

- I break every curse Balaam hired against my life in the name of Jesus (Neh 13:2)

- Lord, turn every curse spoken against my life into a blessing (Neh 13:2)

- I break all generational rebellion that would cause me to resist the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51)

- I break all curses of death spoken by people in authority in my nation over my nation in the name of Jesus.
- I break all curses of death spoken against Nigeria by people of other nations in the name of Jesus.

AMEN!

Man Paid N50,000 As Bail After Stealing N265 Cigarettes

A Judge at the Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, on Friday granted bail to a 25-year old man, Samuel Sedi, in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum after he was arraigned for allegedly stealing cigarettes worth N265.

The police in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday arraigned Sedi at the Gudu Upper Area Court for allegedly stealing cigarettes.

President Buhari dismisses allegations of US government linking to Boko Haram

Statement from the presidency below...

Persisting claims in  the local and international media that President Buhari has accused or indicted the United States Government of helping the terrorist group, Boko Haram are untrue and widely off mark.
Reports to that effect are an unfortunate misinterpretation and distortion of the President’s remarks at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) during his highly successful official visit to Washington DC.
Indeed, President Buhari made it abundantly clear in those remarks, copies of which were circulated to the media, that he was convinced that the United States could never support groups such as Boko Haram.
“I know the American people cannot support any group engaged in these crimes,” the President clearly stated.

The regrets expressed by President Buhari at USIP about the impact of the application of the Leahy Law on Nigeria’s war against  Boko Haram and terrorism cannot be construed as an indictment of President Barack Obama and the United States Government who have publicly and privately declared their preparedness to give the Buhari Administration the fullest possible support and assistance.
Within the context in which they were made, President Buhari’s comments on the adverse effect of the Leahy Law on Nigeria’s efforts to contain Boko Haram’s atrocious acts of terrorism should only be taken as a passionate appeal for even greater understanding and support from a very powerful and longstanding ally.

President Buhari has nothing but the highest possible regard for President Obama, the United States Government, the people of the United States, their laws and institutions.
The President had very successful and useful talks with President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry, other high-ranking US government officials and members of United States Congress during his visit to Washington DC.

It is his expectation that those talks will lead to better mutual understanding and a further deepening of bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States, especially in Nigeria’s current priority areas of  defence and security cooperation.

Eminem comes after Miley Cyrus, Bill Cosby and other...

Eminem was last heard of after dropping a heart warming story of the letter the rapper wrote to Tupac's mother. But the rapper is back with a bomb in a long straight to the point six minutes freestyle that points the the direction of some major headline maker of the moment.

The rapper stopped by Sway's Sirius XM morning show yesterday to drop a blistering six-minute freestyle that attacks pretty much every major headline-maker of the moment.

In one long improvised verse, Em comes after everyone from Bill Cosby to Miley Cyrus. Heck, at one point he even dings longtime backup quarterback Byron Leftwich.

Of course, it wouldn't be an Eminem freestyle without a bit of outrage and lots of folks think the rapper went too far in a series of lines in which he targets both Donald Trump and Caitlyn Jenner:

"I'm f--ked worse than Donald Trump /On Lexapro in Mexico across from a Texaco in a McDonald's drunk...I invented prick, and that’s a true statement, I see the bitch in you, Caitlyn / Keep the pistol tucked like Bruce Jenner’s dick."

It's certainly not hard to see why some folks are offended, but in an unprecedented move, Shady used his next line to apologize to Caitlyn and clarify that he has no animosity toward the reality star:

"No disrespect though, not at all," Em rapped. "No pun intended, that took a lot of balls."

Check out the clip above for the entire freestyle. The lyrics about the Bill Cosby scandal could only come from Mr. Mathers.
