RANKINGS OF STATES BY FINANCIAL STABILITY

Three days ago, Nigeria's budget-monitoring tech organization, BudgetIT, released a detailed document on the states of Nigeria; their economic situations, debt burdens, budget-funding capabilities, internally generated revenue ratings and financial sustainability.
This move is part of a greater plan to engender transparency in our budgets, as well as demand better accountability from our various state governors across the federation.

The document had some revealing details, some shocking details, as well as some downright damning ones. I guess reality is truly different from state-sponsored propaganda and social media rhetoric.

Ability Of States To Meet Recurrent Expenditure
In this category, the states are ranked by the figures realized after subtracting the total monthly salaries paid by the states from their monthly income. The states in red are states whose monthly incomes are unable to meet up with the monthly wage bill. In other words, states that are unable to pay their salaries without having to borrow. States in green, on the other hand, are states whose monthly incomes are enough to adequately pay salaries and still have some leftovers for other engagements.
This is the table:

From the table above it can be deduced that Lagos, Rivers, Delta, Katsina and Enugu are the top 5 states with the highest leftover cash even after meeting monthly obligations; while Osun, Plateau, Ogun, Nasarawa and Oyo are the bottom 5 states as well as the states with the greatest inability to meet monthly payments without having to borrow.
Perhaps interesting to note, is the fact that Osun state's monthly shortfall is larger than the monthly shortfalls of Ekiti, Bauchi, Abia, Kaduna, Zamfara, Imo and Gombe, combined.

On a region-by-region basis, it can also be deduced that:

1. In the South-South, all other states are green except Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom.

2. In the South-East, Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra are able to meet recurrent obligations, but Imo and Abia are unable to.

3. In the South-West, Lagos is the only state currently meeting its recurrent obligations while all other sister states, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun and Osun, are unable to.

4. Taraba and Yobe are the only North-Eastern states without monthly shortfalls

5. Niger, Benue and Kogi are the only North-Central states currently without shortfalls.

6. Zamfara and Kaduna are the only North-West states with shortfalls.

WARNING AGAINST CONSUMPTION OF NESTLE MAGGI NOODLES ORIGINATING FROM INDIA

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) hereby brings to the attention of the general public that some Maggi noodle produced by Nestle India contained excess lead and were therefore deemed unsafe and hazardous for human consumption. Nestle has recalled its Maggi instant noodles from stores across India following the report by the Indian Food Safety Regulators of probable lead contamination. Lead exposure causes an estimated 143,000 deaths a year worldwide.

In view of the potential safety concerns on consumption of the lead contaminated Maggi instant noodles, NAFDAC warns that Maggi instant noodles produced by Nestle India should not be consumed.

Departmental stores, Wholesalers and retailers should also be proactive in ensuring that such products are brought to NAFDAC if they come across any, and under no circumstances should such products be sold.

HOW TO IDENTIFY A SCAM JOB INTERVIEW INVITATION.

I have seen so many Nairalanders complaining and lamenting their ordeal in the hands of fake scam companies who invite people for interview only to introduce them to fake drug marketing business.
I'm doing this not only because these companies waste people's time, energy and T-fair going to such interviews, but also because most of these scammers extort money from hapless job seekers thereby making their suffering times two.
Imagine a scammer extorting #10,500 from a graduate who have been unemployed for years, not to talk of the transport fare wasted going to such fruitless interviews or job chat as they usually call it.
Some people even borrow money to pay these sheep in wolves clothing, who promise them heaven on earth. Some will tell you that you will make half a million within 1 month and all that. If you're not careful, you will take a loan that you will not be able to repay thus causing embarrassment and lack of rest of mind. An unemployed person should have only himself to worry about, not having debts also.

So I believe that if we are properly guided, we will not fall into the hands of these scammers.
Having said that, there are ways by which one can identify a fake or scam interview invitation and there fore avoid such waste of time and money. The good thing is that most of their messages come in the same format, so you will know its fake!

1. The message does not bear a company name: most of these scammers won't include their names on the message you will receive. All you will see are the address, the time and date and a phone number. A genuine company will not hide its identity from a potential employee.

2. The message will say "interview/job briefing": whatever job briefing means I don't know!
3. You will see a code or reference: something like "HR=0056" or "REF=002". This is an indication of the code number of the person who invited you to the "job briefing".
4. It will contain a phone number: this is the number of your referer. Most genuine companies don't give phone numbers.
5. You will see HR Admin in the message instead of company name
6. If you call their number, they will be reluctant to give info on the company.

And pls, ignore those people sharing job flyers on the streets, and those ones they paste on walls. Those are scammers and some ritualists too. And also most of these so called agencies are avenues for duping unsuspecting job seekers. Pls shine your eyes well well.
I will post the names of some of these fake companies/ agencies later.

Pls if you have any experiences inthe hands of these scammers kindly share it here so that others can learn and avoid them too. Thank you

Cheers!

The Movie "Concussion"

As if the NFL didn't have enough controversy 10 days from the 2015 season opener between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers, Sony Pictures just released the trailer for "Concussion," a movie based on the true story of the doctor who discovered the link between football and head trauma.

On the same day NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is scheduled to appear in court opposite Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Sports Illustrated's Peter King unveiled the two-minute trailer in his weekly Monday Morning Quarterback column, and it doesn't exactly shine a favorable light on the league.

Based on the 2009 GQ article, "Game Brain," the film chronicles the real-life story of Dr. Bennet Omalu (played by Will Smith), the Nigerian-born neuropathologist who discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) — a brain disease brought on by repeated blows to the head — while performing an autopsy on deceased Steelers legend and Hall of Fame center Mike Webster in September 2002.

In the film, Omalu's discovery is met with resistance from the NFL, which correctly viewed his science as damaging to the business of football and allegedly attempted to discredit his work. The conflict of an accomplished man who came to America to pursue his dream, only to be disparaged by those who control the country's most beloved sport, appears to be captured brilliantly by Smith.

The trailer begins with Smith's character saying, "I am the wrong person to have discovered this," and ends with him demanding NFL executives "tell the truth" about a disease believed to be the cause of dementia, memory loss and depression resulting in numerous deaths of football players, including the 2012 suicide of newly inducted Hall of Famer Junior Seau, whose autopsy was also conducted by Omalu.

For anyone who read "Game Brain," the portrayal of the NFL as the film's antagonist should come as no surprise, since Omalu pulled no punches when describing the league's response to his July 2005 study for Neurosurgery entitled "Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy in a National Football League Player."

"I was naive," the doctor told GQ six years ago. "There are times I wish I never looked at Mike Webster’s brain. It has dragged me into worldly affairs I do not want to be associated with. Human meanness, wickedness, and selfishness. People trying to cover up, to control how information is released. I started this not knowing I was walking into a minefield. That is my only regret."

Really, the only surprising aspect of the trailer is that Goodell is played by Luke Wilson, who is apparently going against type after portraying Joe Bauers, the last beacon of intelligence in the 2006 film "Idiocracy."

As for the conclusions we will draw from a film that also stars Alec Baldwin and Albert Brooks, "Concussion" director Peter Landesman addressed any potential controversy in his Q&A with MMQB.

I have no position on whether or not people should play football or whether they should have their kids play football. To me, this is a story about making adult choices. Once you have the information — and the information has been obscured for a long time, it’s been buried and covered up by people who don’t want to damage the sport — the information is now out there and I hope this movie brings together the information in a way that the general public can metabolize and now make their own decisions. So now that you know that concussions can kill you and playing the sport can kill you, it’s on every parent and it’s on every college player, it’s on every high school player and professional player on whether you are going to let your child play. It’s the same with smoking, drinking and doing drugs. I like to think in some ways that life is an occupational hazard. Something we do in our life is going to kill us; maybe now, maybe fifty years from now. You have to choose what those things are. We love to drink and be merry and be happy, we know it’s not good for us, but we do it. It’s about making adult choices.

Interestingly, Landesman said he held a private screening for Chris Borland, who recently retired from the NFL at age 24 over concerns about the effects of concussions, and the former San Francisco 49ers linebacker was visibly "shaken and shaking" after watching his worst fears play out on the big screen.

The film is scheduled to be released for the rest of us in theaters on Christmas Day.

FOOD THAT HURTS THE BRAIN

Forget your waistline for a second; some of your food choices could actually affect your memory and cognitive abilities. Here are five foods to go easy on if you want to keep your wits.

Tofu: The soy controversy continues with a study that found an association between high tofu intake and an increased risk of cognitive impairment and memory loss, as researchers speculate that tofu’s phytoestrogens might affect brain function.

Sodium: While the debate about its effects on blood pressure and cardiovascular disease rages on, a study found that high levels of sodium intake paired with low levels of physical activity had a negative impact on cognitive abilities. People with lower sodium intake paired with lower physical activity levels showed slower cognitive decline than participants with high sodium levels and low physical activity. Happily, this is a reversible curse: regular exercise can counteract sodium’s negative effects on the brain, as well as the cardiovascular system.

Trans Fats: The stuff could hurt your memory, as consuming more trans fat has been associated with difficulty remembering words!

Tuna: It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s packed with protein for a post-workout meal. But your favourite fish could be impairing your mind. According to a study from the journal Integrative Medicine, people who eat more than three servings of species of fish that are high on the food chain — like tuna, grouper, snapper, bass, swordfish, and shark — each week (or more than four servings per month) are at risk for cognitive dysfunction. The culprit? High levels of mercury!

Saturated Fats: Researchers at the University of Montreal found that rat diets high in saturated fat (when 50 percent of all calories come from an unhealthy fat, like palm oil or butter) impaired the functioning of their brain’s mesolimbic dopamine system — the part that controls motivation and wellbeing, and is often implicated in mood disorders, drug addiction, and overeating.

Women Attitude The Cause of Most Marriage Crashes - Bishop Oyedepo

Founder of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, says that the high rate of divorce cases in the world is due to the belief in women liberation.

Oyedepo who presided over the third service of his church in Ota, Ogun State on Sunday, noted that the increasing call and approval of equality between women and men have spilled into their marital lives.

Adding that, such women now equate themselves with their husbands against the biblical doctrine that advises women to be submissive to their husbands and that men should love their wives.

He said cases of divorce were most in the western world because people in such places have thrown the dictates of God away and have instead started imbibing self-made laws that confer on them near-absolute freedom.

This, he said, was partly the reason behind the laws approving homosexuality in such countries. He noted how he once mentioned that soon, it would no longer be news to find men and women marrying animals.

“Very soon, you would see a male President and the First Lady would be a man,” he said comically, but with some seriousness in his tone.

He lamented what the world, especially the west, was now turning into saying nowadays, “they take churches to court for refusing to marry men. That is how the world has turned.”

He told the congregation that women must be submissive to their husbands and that if they follow such with prayers, even if such men are wayward, God would return them to the family.

He concluded that men should avoid being blown away by the things of the world as they must learn to love their wives as the Bible had warned.

10 best Google Adsense Alternatives

Here are some of the best Google Adsense Alternatives you can try to monetize your website without using Google Adsense, and I’ll tell you how they work and why you should consider them, so let’s start:

10.  Revenue Hits.

I recently discovered Revenue Hits and it looks like a great contender. I signed up and was quickly contacted by a manager to see how their ad platform for publishers work and they have a ton of features to make money. Revenue hits is a Performance Ad network, which means they pay you for results (CPA which is great for many niches), however, they have CPM and CPC models too. Revenue hits has an interesting platform that learns from your Ads so if you give them a try make sure to keep their ads running for 2-4 days to get the best results. Another great thing is that they have different monetization channels available. You can create banner ads, sliders, pop -unders, buttons and more. Revenue Hits pays on a NET 30 basis and they issue payments via wire, Paypal and Payoneer! Create your account and get started in just a few minutes HERE!

Note: I just moved Revenue Hits to the first place because some publishers have been generating more than $100 per month in their first try with Revenue Hits. Some of them are already generating a lot more, and there’s no entry barrier such as with Adversal (500k monthly traffic). I’d recommend to get started ASAP with Revenue Hits and let us know how it does for you!

9. Amazon Associates

Google Adsense Alternatives Amazon
You can make a good amount of money from Amazon, especially in Christmas and other holidays
Amazon is the biggest online store in the world, so they must be doing something good. Well, if you have a website that talks about any product that can be found on Amazon, then Amazon associates could work for you. Amazon allows you to put dynamic image ads to your blog, so that you can promote them and while this isn’t a Pay-per-click or CPM program, it will pay you a small commission for everything they sell from your links. So let’s say you have a blog about Apple products and you put an ad driving them to buy an iPod or just a cable. If they buy it, an small commission will be for you. So if you sell a $10 cable you might receive a few cents, but sell a $1500 Laptop and you might receive $100. The good thing is that everything they buy through your link (even if it isn’t the product you recommended at first) will generate a commission for your. the only con I find with Amazon, is that they need to send you a check that could take weeks to arrive to your home, unless you live in the United Stated of America where you can provide your Bank account. You can use this with Adsense at the same time.

8.  Yllix

Yllix is a network I have heard a lot in the last years that has a decent CPM and many monetization options. Their homepage might look simple but their dashboard is great and it’s easy to get started. Yllix has Pop under ads, mobile redirects, sliders, layer ads and full page ads so you can get a good CTR and make money with them. Definitely a good option for starters and their approval is fast. Sign up here.

7. Chitika

The reason I put Chitika on the number 3 of this list, is because Chitika is very similar to Adsense. they allow you to customize your ads, and it only serves contextual ads. One good thing is that you can use it along with Adsense and there are no problems at all. Chitika pays via Paypal ($10 USD minimum, which is good for starters) or via check ($50 minimum). If I were to recommend an ads service as an alternative to Adsense, Chitika would be my first choice, hands down. Chitika can pay you via paypal if you need. Sign up Here and get your account approved fast and easily!

6.  Tribal Fusion

Tribal Fusion is no small network. They work on a CPM basis and you need a lot of traffic to get accepted (500,000 unique visitors per month). This is a great alternative for those working with viral websites (read my case study) or sites that already have a lot of traffic. There are some other similar networks but I think Tribal Fusion is one of the best. Sign Up Here

5.  Infolinks

Infolinks is a Pay per click advertisement network that allows you to make money through your blog based on specific keywords. Infolinks indexes your pages and automatically add some hiperlinks in your text. Of course, since this isn’t a CPM program, it might take you a while to start earning a regular passive income through it, but it’s still an alternative to Adsense. They can pay you via Paypal, Wire Transfer, Check Western Union, ACH and Payoneer and there’s an initial limit of $50. Infolinks is great for big websites and it works in English, Spanish, French and German websites. Start using Infolinks Here.

4. PopAds

PopAds is a performance network specialized in Pop Unders. They have good rates and they can monetize all countries. Something great about PopAds is that they can pay daily as long as you earn $5 or more per day. Their quality is good, and they also have pop ups and other monetization methods. Their approvals are easy and setting your ads takes just a few minutes. Sign up as a publisher Here.

3. Propeller Ads Media

Propeller Ads is one of the biggest pop-under networks available. They started working on 2011 and quickly developed into one of the biggest networks with great CPMs. They specialize in monetizing websites for the following niches: entertainment, videos/movies, games, dating, finances, software, gambling and more. If you’ve got one of this sites, you could make more money with Propeller than with Adsense. They also have banners but the pop unders work better overall. Also, if you’ve got mobile traffic, they’re a great Adsense alternative as they work closely with ad networks that monetize apps and mobile services leading to huge ROIs and great CPMs too.

Propeller pays on a NET 30 basis and they have a great fill rate for tier 2-3 countries. So if you’re struggling to monetize traffic from countries like India, Singapore, Turkey, South Africa, etc. Propeller has a big inventory for them too. Sign up as a Publisher with Propeller Ads Here

2. Adversal

Adversal is a great alternative of Adsense and works as great as Chitika. They have good banners and the CTR and revenue adapts to get the best results for your website. I’ve seen the Ads on Adversal have a good CTR and they have good image ads too. This is probably the Ad network which seems to work better for those looking for a replacement of Google Adsense. It works decently with other languages too (Chitika doesn’t). You account gets approved really fast and they also have Pop under /CPM ads as an option. Note: Adversal requires a website with a minimum of 50,000 page views per month, but they have proven to work really well. I earn over $500-1000 per month. They also pay via paypal. Sign up Here

1. Revenue Hits

HABITS THAT RUIN THE LIVER.

In humans, the liver is very important because of the numerous functions it performs. Scientists say this vital organ, being one of the largest in humans, detoxifies the body by ridding it of harmful substances, while it also produces the biochemical substances that are necessary for proper digestion of food.

The presence of a healthy liver in the body is what makes the blood what it is, experts say, as the liver produces the albumin – a major component of blood serum.

A General Practitioner, Dr. Daniel Ogunboyejo, says when a woman is pregnant, in the first three months,
the liver is the main site of red blood cell production in the foetus. And even after the baby is born, this
organ produces the hormone that plays an important role in the child’s growth and continues to aid the
building up of organs and tissues in adults.

Ogunboyejo also notes that when a person’s blood pressure becomes low (hypotension), the liver, working in tandem with the kidneys, produces
angiotensinogen – a hormone that is responsible for raising the blood pressure when activated by another
enzyme (renin) that is released when the kidney senses low blood pressure.

Experts say the liver is thought to be responsible for up to 500 separate functions, usually in combination
with other systems and organs. And that is why they conclude that this organ is necessary for survival, as
there is no way to compensate for its absence in the body in the long term.

Scientists say the liver is basically the ‘body’s filter.’ The function of the liver is to process medications,
alcohol, and other such chemicals and toxins and remove them from the body. “Therefore, anything you put into your body will, at some point and in some form, pass through the liver,” Ogunboyejo warns.

Liver Destroyers

At a media briefing about Hepatitis C, a specialist in hepatology, gastroenterology and endoscopy, Dr.
Aderemi Oluyemi, warns that numerous activities can jeopardise the liver, leading to damages that are
sometimes irreversible unless the patient goes for liver transplantation – an extreme and expensive
procedure that is not available in the country. How can you damage your liver? These ways…

Abusing Anabolic Steriods

Many people, especially athletes, body builders and weight lifters, use anabolic steroids without supervision by a competent physician. Yet experts say these synthetic variants of the male sex hormone (testosterone), if used regularly and for a long period, can raise the risk of developing liver cancer as well as some other cancers.

It can also result in liver tumours; the liver may be enlarged, become deep red in colour and fragile.

“It may also lead to haemorrhagic cystic degeneration of the liver – a rare condition that requires urgent surgery,” Ogunboyejo notes.

Unguarded Antibiotics and Painkiller Intake

Many of the over-the-counter drugs that we use casually without consulting the doctor affect our liver
the way we don’t imagine, Ogunboyejo says.

For instance, physicians say drugs used to treat epilepsy (anticonvulsants), cholesterol lowering drugs (statins), acetaminophen (painkillers) and
isotretinoin (used to treat severe acne) all have terrible effects on the liver.

Worse still, a study published in the journal Gastroenterology also shows that of all types of prescription drugs, antibiotics are the ones most
likely to cause liver damage.

Ogunboyejo laments that in most cases, people don't just take these drugs in isolation; rather, they may
combine two at a time. For instance, it isn't improbable for people to take a combination of antibiotics and paracetamol. “In which case, you
increase your risks of liver damage exponentially,” the doctor warns.

The physician therefore counsels, “If you have recently finished a course of antibiotics, or if you have been taking them long-term, it is vital to ask your doctor for a liver function test to determine the health of your liver.”

Uncontrolled Diabetes

According to Diabetologist/Medical Director, Rainbow Specialist Medical Centre, Lekki Phase 1, Dr.Afokoghene Isiavwe, people who are diabetic are
more likely to develop liver damage than people with normal blood sugar level.

“More than people probably realise, diabetes has terrible effects on the liver. That is why I recommend
that every diabetic has a blood test and ultrasound to check on the health of their liver annually,” she
advises.

She adds that the closer you are to a healthy body weight, and the closer to normal your blood sugar level is, the better your liver’s health.

Impure Water and Alcohol

What is the source of the water you drink? For the average Nigerian, we source our water from privately-owned wells or boreholes, which may not be bad enough if the wells are up to standard depth and the water sweet, odourless and colourless.

However, many people don’t know the ‘texture’ of their water, which may be hard or soft.

A study carried out by Scottish researchers show that those who drink ‘soft’ water and who also consume alcohol risk developing Alcoholic Liver Disease – a major killer.

Soft Water is water which has relatively low concentration of calcium carbonate and other ions. It
lathers with soap easily and contains few or no minerals such as calcium or magnesium ions.

The study author/liver transplant surgeon, Prof.Roger Williams, says those who drink soft water are
exposed to the risk of liver damage because such waters contain lower levels of magnesium – the mineral that helps to protect the liver from the effects of alcohol.

But even on its own, Alcoholic Liver Disease occurs after years of heavy drinking, says a nutritionist, Dr.
Tobi Lawrence. “Alcohol can cause inflammation in the liver; and over time, scarring and cirrhosis can
occur. Cirrhosis is the final phase of alcoholic liver disease,” she counsels.

Lawrence notes that the longer the time you have been using alcohol, the higher your chances of getting liver disease go up.

“It is also based on the more alcohol you consume,” she warns; advising that even those who claim to be
moderate drinkers can still have damaged liver if it's a habit they persist in for a long period.

Smoking

Smoking is harmful to virtually every organ in your body. Scientists say there are over 60 chemicals in
cigarette smoke, all of which have the potential to affect and disturb all parts of the human anatomy.

These chemicals prevent the liver from performing its main function by making it to age and become less
efficient at removing toxins from the body.

Fatty Foods

Lawrence says foods that are processed and contain lots of preservatives, fats and cholesterol can cause the liver to become clogged with fat residue. Avoid
processed, deep fried or fatty foods such as sausage, bacon, corned beef, etc., to allow the liver to unblock itself and regenerate its cells.

Symptoms of liver damage

Symptoms of liver diseases include weakness and fatigue, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, and yellow
discolouration of the skin (jaundice).

SOME FACTS ABOUT BRIDE PRICE.

In many Countries, the issue of Bride price has been known to be a well grounded factor in determining your franchise over the lady.

In some parts of the world, this issue has been blown beyond proportion that huge money is usually asked by the Bride's parent and many suitors see this as very discouraging.

The amazing fact is that if you ask anyone why a bride price must be paid, they will be very quick to answer that GOD commanded it and even our pastors are quick to lay emphasis on this as a condition that must be met before a man and woman can be said to be married before GOD.

But is Bride price really a condition necessary for marriage? Can we say you are really married even if bride price have not been paid? Did GOD specifically lay down this as a law or was it man made tradition? Can Bride price be paid at anytime during the course of the couple living together as Man and wife? and is it proper for the bride's parents to present a list or ask for monetary bride price from the groom's family?

These shocking truths from the very Bible people use as yardstick for bride price will clear the air.

1. Bride price was never a commandment from GOD as a condition for marriage but only as a penalty for rape and in fact, you can still pay the Bride price and still be denied the woman to be your wife by the Father.

Lets read this from the book of exodus 22:16-17:
"If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins."

Deuteronomy 22:28-29: "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

2.Monetary bride is to be paid only on a virgin provided the man has slept with her before he decides to marry her but if the man has never slept with her, there should be no need to pay a dime on her.(Read again Exodus 22:16-17 above)

3.Even if a man meets a virgin and defiles her and decides to marry her,no man is expected to pay more than 50shekels of silver as a penalty and according to Google research, 50 shekels of silver is just about 15usd today so what is this madness going on where in some places a man is asked to pay hundreds and thousands for a lady who have probably slept with many men.

4.There was never ever a place in the Bible where GOD commanded the bride's parent to present a list but it is the groom's responsibility to bring whatever he dims fit for the lady he wants to marry.

The great example in the Bible was Isaac's marriage to Rebekah who was a virgin and there was no monetary exchange or penalty whatsoever between the two families but affordable gifts were giving to Rebekkah's family by Abraham but not demanded for by Rebekkah's family. Read Genesis 24:52-54.

5. Bride price according to the bible is all about virgins and all the references and bible verses all point to paying a penalty for defiling a virgin as well as giving gifts as Abraham did to Rebekah who also happen to be a virgin.

Genesis 24:15-16:Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

6.Payment of monetary bride price on ladies generally whether virgins or non virgins is a tradition and not a direct commandment from GOD and in some countries like india, its a woman that actually pays a dowry on the groom and not the other way round.

7.Presenting list or asking for monetary bride price from a man who conscientiously marries a lady is man made rule and not from GOD hence becomes a sin because its better to obey GOD rather than men.

Acts 5:29:Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than human beings!

Conclusively i would advice that we just flow with the fun fare and traditions of the land and pay the bride price to either the Father of the Bride or the Mother of any lady we want to marry even if she is a LovePeddler.

Nevertheless.outrageous monetary bride price or list must be discouraged because it is not even Biblical in the first place but only necessary to obey customs and traditions.

Even Prophet Mohamed(May the peace of GOD be upon him) has this to say:

"the most blessed marriage is one in which the marriage partners place the least burden on each other" (al-Haythami, Kitab ab-Nikah, 4:255).

Oore Of Mobaland: Only Person Who's Qualified To Break The News Of Ooni's Death

No No Yoruba has a rich tradition. The age-long culture gives form, content and predictability to the beliefs of its people.

The custom has been inherited from generation to generation. The symbol of the unity of the race is kingship. Its cradle is Ile-Ife, the cherished sacred abode of its progenitor, Oduduwa.

Whenever any Owooni (Ooni) Adimula joins his ancestors, the news is not broken without following the due process of culture. Ooni is the property of Yoruba race. He is the custodian of the household of Oduduwa, its shrine and the protector of its legacies.

Therefore, it is absolutely a taboo for any prince, royal family and palace chiefs to break the news without clearance or approval from the appropriate traditional quarters. (Not to mention journalists, bloggers or just anyone on the internet who had privileged of knowing about such occurrence.)

The announcement of the Ooni’s death is a traditional role conferred on Oore, the Oore of Otun and Mobaland, an helper of Oduduwa and one of the 16 foremost monarchs in Yorubaland. The reigning Oore is Oba Adedapo Popoola.

The Oore of Mobaland, Oba (Dr.) James Adedapo Popoola JP, CON, Odundun I Adimula, is a first class traditional ruler and former Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Council of Obas and Chiefs. He is an economist and chartered accountant.

After ascertaining that the Ooni has waja (died), the palace chiefs are expected to inform the Oore.

The Oore will mourn his passage in a traditional way. He will not waste time in breaking the news to other Oduduwa children, especially the Alaafin, the descendant of Oranmiyan Akinorun, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, the Oba of Benin, the Onipopo of Popo, the Onisabe of Sabe, and the Owa Obokun Adimula. The Oore will also carry along the Ajero Asotemaru, the Alara and the Obalufon Alayemore.

The foremost rulers will break the news to their towns and vassal towns. Days of mourning will be declared. The attention of the towns and villages will focus on Ile-Ife, the Orirun, where their kings obtained their legitimate crowns.

In ancient times, a celebration will be proclaimed, with its characteristic visitation to the cradle by monarchs, accompanied by their chiefs and families. The palace chiefs will play dominant roles during the burial ceremony. They will also play dominant roles during the selection of a new prince for the prestigious throne.

After the new Ooni is crowned, Yoruba monarchs will accord him automatic recognition and respect. He may visit selected palaces of his brother obas in the spirit of brotherhood. As a prince, he must know the history of the race by heart. He is expected to be factual.
***

Aren't Yoruba's rich in culture?
So, Yorubas, relax, Ooni is 'alive' until Oore says otherwise.

DESPERATE FOR HUSBAND? Read this.

For many years I never knew how ladies in their very late 20s,early 30s and late 30s feel when it comes to the issue of settling down with a man until recently when i had the cause to really get close to many of them.

Yes many of them will always insist that marriage is the least of their worries but deep inside, most of them are hoping desperately to have a man to settle down with and my acquaintanceship with some of them made me decide to write this short piece hoping that when they see and read it,they will come to understand that their desperation is self inflicted and until they learn to put themselves at a vantage point, they will only hope and wish for a long time that a man comes their way.

I have witnessed many deliverance session for ladies all in the name of looking for a husband but after a close look i come to realize that they are their own problems and this is as a result of the society that have brainwashed them and rather than dealing with the problems, they end up running from from one prophet to another and from one deliverance service to another and some have become a shadow of themselves as they turn to emergency sister dressing like masquerades, going without earrings, make up and even on low cut all in the name of looking for a man.

Please when next you see such ladies, help me inform them that only deliverance won't solve their problems and even when we know that there are spiritual hindrance to getting a spouse, most times what we need is a re-orientation of our minds, ways of life and culture. Below are some points to take note:

1.Many ladies will not say yes to a man if you are not ready to do traditional wedding, legal wedding, white wedding, blue wedding... Please tell me how easy you expect to find a man in this harsh economy.

2.As an Igbo lady, you are naturally at risk unless you drive it into your man's ear that in your own family they don't ask a man for crazy bride price otherwise you will only see men come into your life without discussing marriage and you will think its a curse from the village but its only as a result of the funny belief that Igbo ladies are expensive to marry.

3.How many ladies can start a life with a struggling man? I guess part of the prayer point during deliverance is that GOD should bring a ready made man to propose to you.Mumu

4.Funny doctrinal belief is another hindrance and many ladies who run to conservative churches in the bid to have a man end up in more bondage.I had a lady friend in her 30s who i admire so much but she goes to one of this conservative churches and there was a time i was so sick and i was expecting her to visit but she never did and when i told her i was angry, she was so quick to say she can not visit me at home and i was like FOR REAL? Even a sick guy? i even told her that she would have at least come in company of a friend and i lost interest in the friendship instantly and i wonder how she will get a good man with that mindset.

5.Rough past is another hindrance and many ladies just believe that if a man loves them the past does not matter.

6.Lack of wife qualities is another issue and i wonder how a lady who does not have the required quality to be a mrs to a man will be desperate fore a man because even if any man comes,he will eventually leave you until you work on yourself.

The bottom line is that many ladies we see in churches today who tend to be looking for a husband are their own problems. So stop been desperate and work on your mindset and you will be surprised that in no time,a good man will walk into your life and marry you.

A PRAYER FOR GOD'S GRACE.

Lord, I know you are merciful. I've been taught that you provide grace and mercy in spite of my behavior and in spite of my sins. You are a good God that comes to those that need You, no matter what. And Lord, I need you now in my life more than ever. I know that I'm not perfect. I know that my sins are not hidden from you. I know that, at times, I sin knowing it's a sin. I'm human, Lord,
and while that's no excuse, I know you love me despite my human nature. Lord, I need you today to provide for me. I need your grace in my life to provide strength, because I am weak. I face temptations every day, and I wish I could say that
I always walk away. I cannot do it alone any more. I just can't. I need you to give me the strength and provide me with the guidance to overcome these desires to sin. I need you to give me direction in darker times when I wonder if I can even face the next day. You can move the
mountains that block my way in life. You can give to me what I need in my life. Please, Lord, I ask of you to come into my life and offer your grace. I am open to it and ready to accept it. Allow my heart to always be focused on You and make my desire to live for You. Lord, I know from the scripture that your grace is bestowed no matter what, so I just ask for it today. I may not always
be perfect, but I strive to be better. Lord, help me be better. Help me see the clear, narrow path in front of me so I can walk in your ways and in your glory. In your name I pray.

SCHOOL FEES OF SOME PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA

Thankfully Jamb has decided to drop it's new controversial method of posting students to schools. It's good that the saga has been resolved because it would have been difficult for some Nigerian parents and guardians if their kids were posted to private schools. Some private schools are very good and to be desired if not for their astronomical fees.

OONI OF IFE, OKUNADE SIJUADE IS DEAD

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has died at the age of 85 in a London hospital.

The monarch was said to have died around 5pm on Tuesday (today).

Relevant officials, who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday night, however, refused to confirm the monarch’s death, saying they did not want to be quoted on the death of the foremost traditional ruler, who was said to have passed away on Tuesday.

“I have heard but please, I don’t want to be quoted on this. People have been calling but nothing has been made public. You see, another person is calling me from London,” the source said before picking the other call.

Another source, who spoke on condition of anonymity to our correspondent, explained that Oba Sijuwade was flown out of the country from Ibadan about five days ago in an unconscious state.

“Kabiyesi was flown out of the country about five days ago in an air ambulance. He was unconscious; his situation was critical.

“As a matter of fact, some people have been weeping in the palace since the weekend because of his situation when he was flown out from Ibadan in that air ambulance,” he said.

Oba Sijuwade became the fiftieth traditional ruler or Ife in 1980.

Just last week, the Ooni resolved the industrial dispute between the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University and some staff of the institution, who had embarked on an indefinite strike.

Details later…

7 WEIRD THINGS WE DO IN CHURCH

1) The act of 'sleeping without closing your eyes' ; I learnt this act many years ago, especially in churches where the ushers are very stubborn and keep tapping you every time you shut your eyes. This act can only be done by Pros. It requires you making your eyes being wide open, but your body in deep sleep. The only problem here is that pray you don't get called upon by the pastor to answer a question, a friend of mine whose name is emmanuel was practicing the act one vigil night when our pastor (who was about starting another round of prayer) shouted 'God of Emmanuel!', my friend Jolted back to reality on hearing 'emmanuel', stood up and said (in a very loud tone) 'sir, I am listening'. I couldn't help the laughter that day and the look on his face was worse than Mr Ibu's.

2) The Church 'Madmathecian'; if you get extremely bored in church, you tend to; firstly, look around you to check if any familiar face is around you, then, ultimately, you turn into a 'madmathecian' by counting things in the church nobody asked you to count. You start counting the number of fans, how many chairs are in church, the number of choir members, etc. When it gets extremely worse is when you start calculating how much the church receive in terms of Member's tithe. Or how much different members might drop as tithe. By this time, you are no longer in the church, neither would you ever understand what the pastor is saying even if he keeps repeating himself. Smh for you.

3) The 'Lookozade'; this act is the most common by church goers, it requires you to look as if you are paying apt attention to what the preacher is saying, while your mind can wander of... Very often than not, your mind can wander of to something quite sinful (sex, alcohol, etc) only for you to remind yourself of being in the house of God, trying to be attentive to what the preacher is saying once again, and go back to the beginning by 'lookozading' some more! You for no kuku come church sef.

(4) African time;[/b] this occurs when a church extends it closing time in a service, I like to call it 'overtime'. For instance, a church is billed to close by 1 pm, just some few minutes after the 'supposedly' closing time you hear announcement of something like 'we will now go into our thanksgiving sunday program', some people fit faint sef. It happened once to a friend of mine whom I dragged to church and assured him we would close by 12, after 12 like this he was staring at me with a killer's eyes, by 1 the pastor announced that the kids were to present something to the church (as per children's day), this my guy eyes done red finish, he was headed outside when I rushed to him to plead he stayed for the grace. The worse part was immediately after service, na beer parlor my guy rush go straight. Smh for some people.

5) 'deceitful humming'; this is done during praise worship. Every body else seems to know the song very well except you!, you no fit carry last na! Hum away my friend, just pray they change the song to the ones you know soonest!

6) Being 'alone' in the church; this happened to me once, when we were told to stand up and pray, me I dey hammer the prayer sotay, I did not hear when the pastor told everyone to sit down, after a while, as I no hear pastor again, I just open one eye discover say the whole world done siddon and na only me dey pray! This salary matter sha! You might end up being alone in the church if you don't open your eyes and look around you. Professional church goers always shine their eyes even when you are told not to

(7)Lusting after a beautiful member; if there is a beautiful church member that is your taste right beside you, then satan done catch you for that day! You end up being self conscious all through, your thoughts leave the church and goes into your bedroom with the girl/guy, you first start to steal glances, from there your mind advances to strike a conversation or meeting, somehow for you as satan dey dance shoki for your life.

If you do any of this then Somehow for you!

Please add yours, I done try na!

HELP! UNDERGRADUATE WANT TO COMMIT SUICIDE.

I will kill myself on Wednesday if am not able to sort this out. I'm tired of this life even though people around believe all is well with me.

I am a 23 year old undergraduate of University of Ilorin. I am a spill over student due for graduation last year. I had 2 courses for first semester and 5 courses for second semester, including project. I really tried my best this year, so that I can graduate. The trauma, depression, studying with my juniors, O God, after stressing myself reading day and night, preparing hard and settling project issues, just to discover that I failed 2 courses in second semester. I will now splash, not again.

I am pressing some buttons IF the courses can be waved. I discovered that I failed the two on friday after checking my results at the level adviser's office.

How will I inform my parents? I don't have a choice than to just end this if nothing can be done before Wednesday evening.

The pressure is just too much. I am the first born of my parent. They are expecting the good news not the splash news again, not after supporting me for a year.

Please comment your candid advise.

PRAYER POINTS TO BREAK THE YOKE OF CURSES.

I have heard of several people, whose family curses were passed down their lineage. Believe it or not, ancestral and generational curses exists. Many people have tried all they could to become relevant, to be good and successful, some would even go to the extent of killing themselves; thinking thats the only solution to their problems.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds  casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God; and bringing into captivity every though to the obedience of Christ;

You cannot do it all alone, not by the works of your hand, not by your self righteousness. Not by visiting priests, prophets and pastors by laying on of hands, it is not by going to river to bath away your curses. No! It is through God. Through God in prayers.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:11

You need to understand that, your problems are not carnal, and since it is not carnal you cannot fight against it using carnal means.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all stand Ephesians 6:12

As believers our amour is Prayer and the word of God (herein the breastplate of righteousness). Prayer is one of the ways we release the will of God upon the earth. The will of God, for you to prosper, to have promotion, to be successful, to be financially liberated, sound health and so on. This is why prayer and the Word must be combines. Daniel was able to pray effectively because he knew the Word of God concerning his people. It is essential that you know that God does not predestined people to suffer curses, to live in poverty, to be tormented by servient spirit of sickness. Heresy!

It is also important that we pray with understanding (1 Cor 14:15). Understanding the will of God will help you pray correctly. The word of God is the will of God; which says that you will prosper, blessing the works of your hands, bless the cattle of your field, the fruit of your ground and that wherever the sole of your feet shall thread He will give unto you. Why then are you still not liberated? Why then do you still live in poverty? Why then do you work and work and still not have ends meet? Why then are you sickly always? Why then are you always met with disappointments? Curses!

Curses? What then is the way out?
PRAYER

You need to know how to pray and pray through. There is a big difference between praying and praying through. I am not going to dwell so much on this, but if truly you want to be liberated from generational curses, you need to know the right prayers to pray.
Pray the following prayer points with faith and all fervency.

- I bind all Principalities, all Powers, all Rulers of the darkness of this world, all spiritual wickedness in high places that may hinder my prayers in Jesus name.

- I release all idle angels in heavenly planes above the earth that are meant to convey my prayers unto God in Jesus name.

-I break free from every curse of the law for the word of the Lord says I am redeemed from the curse of the law (Gal 3:13)

- I break all generational curses of pride, lust, perversion, rebellion, witchcraft, idolatry, poverty, rejection, fear, confusion, addiction, death, and destruction in the name of Jesus.

- I command all ancestral and generational spirits that came into my life during conception, in the womb, in the birth canal, and through the unblical cord to come out in the name of Jesus.

- I break all spoken curses and negative words that I have spoken over my life in the name of Jesus.

- I break all spoken curses and negative words spoken over my life by others, including those in authority, in the name of Jesus.

- I command all ancestral spirits of freemansonry, idolatry, masquerades, witchcraft, false religion, polygamy, lust and perversion to come out of my life in the name of Jesus.

- I command all hereditary spirits of lust, rejection, fear, sickness, infirmity, disease, anger, hatred, confusion, failure, and poverty to come out of my life in the name of Jesus.

- I break the legal rights of all generational spirits operating behind a curse in the name of Jesus. You have no legal right to operate in my life.

- I bind and rebuke all familiar spirits and spirit guides that would try to operate in my life from ancestors in the name of Jesus.

- I renounce all false beliefs and philosophies inherited by my ancestors in the name of Jesus.

- I break all curses on my finances from any ancestors that cheated or mishandled money in the name of Jesus.

- I break all curses of sickness and disease and command all inherited sicknesses to leave my body in the name of Jesus.

- Through Jesus, my family is blessed (Gen12:3)
I renounce all pride from my ancestors in the name of Jesus.

- I break all curses by agents of satan spoken against my life in the name Jesus (Psalm 10:7).

- I break all written curses that would affect my life in the name of Jesus (2Chron 34:24).

- I break every time-released curse that would activate in my life as I grow older in the name of Jesus.

- I break every curse Balaam hired against my life in the name of Jesus (Neh 13:2)

- Lord, turn every curse spoken against my life into a blessing (Neh 13:2)

- I break all generational rebellion that would cause me to resist the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51)

- I break all curses of death spoken by people in authority in my nation over my nation in the name of Jesus.
- I break all curses of death spoken against Nigeria by people of other nations in the name of Jesus.

AMEN!

Man Paid N50,000 As Bail After Stealing N265 Cigarettes

A Judge at the Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, on Friday granted bail to a 25-year old man, Samuel Sedi, in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum after he was arraigned for allegedly stealing cigarettes worth N265.

The police in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday arraigned Sedi at the Gudu Upper Area Court for allegedly stealing cigarettes.

He said that Sedi attempted to escape but was chased and arrested immediately.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Consequently, the Judge, Alhaji Kagarko, granted bail to Sedi in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Kagarko adjourned the case till Sept. 9, 2015.

President Buhari dismisses allegations of US government linking to Boko Haram

Statement from the presidency below...

Persisting claims in  the local and international media that President Buhari has accused or indicted the United States Government of helping the terrorist group, Boko Haram are untrue and widely off mark.
Reports to that effect are an unfortunate misinterpretation and distortion of the President’s remarks at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) during his highly successful official visit to Washington DC.
Indeed, President Buhari made it abundantly clear in those remarks, copies of which were circulated to the media, that he was convinced that the United States could never support groups such as Boko Haram.
“I know the American people cannot support any group engaged in these crimes,” the President clearly stated.

The regrets expressed by President Buhari at USIP about the impact of the application of the Leahy Law on Nigeria’s war against  Boko Haram and terrorism cannot be construed as an indictment of President Barack Obama and the United States Government who have publicly and privately declared their preparedness to give the Buhari Administration the fullest possible support and assistance.
Within the context in which they were made, President Buhari’s comments on the adverse effect of the Leahy Law on Nigeria’s efforts to contain Boko Haram’s atrocious acts of terrorism should only be taken as a passionate appeal for even greater understanding and support from a very powerful and longstanding ally.

President Buhari has nothing but the highest possible regard for President Obama, the United States Government, the people of the United States, their laws and institutions.
The President had very successful and useful talks with President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry, other high-ranking US government officials and members of United States Congress during his visit to Washington DC.

It is his expectation that those talks will lead to better mutual understanding and a further deepening of bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States, especially in Nigeria’s current priority areas of  defence and security cooperation.

Eminem comes after Miley Cyrus, Bill Cosby and other...

Eminem was last heard of after dropping a heart warming story of the letter the rapper wrote to Tupac's mother. But the rapper is back with a bomb in a long straight to the point six minutes freestyle that points the the direction of some major headline maker of the moment.

The rapper stopped by Sway's Sirius XM morning show yesterday to drop a blistering six-minute freestyle that attacks pretty much every major headline-maker of the moment.

In one long improvised verse, Em comes after everyone from Bill Cosby to Miley Cyrus. Heck, at one point he even dings longtime backup quarterback Byron Leftwich.

Of course, it wouldn't be an Eminem freestyle without a bit of outrage and lots of folks think the rapper went too far in a series of lines in which he targets both Donald Trump and Caitlyn Jenner:

"I'm f--ked worse than Donald Trump /On Lexapro in Mexico across from a Texaco in a McDonald's drunk...I invented prick, and that’s a true statement, I see the bitch in you, Caitlyn / Keep the pistol tucked like Bruce Jenner’s dick."

It's certainly not hard to see why some folks are offended, but in an unprecedented move, Shady used his next line to apologize to Caitlyn and clarify that he has no animosity toward the reality star:

"No disrespect though, not at all," Em rapped. "No pun intended, that took a lot of balls."

Check out the clip above for the entire freestyle. The lyrics about the Bill Cosby scandal could only come from Mr. Mathers.
